Our Timeline

  • 1934

The lean years of the Great Depression. The company is founded by railroad man, W.J. Cornay, Sr. Armed with a sample selector book of awnings and Venetian blinds, he boarded a bus for Arnaudville and Cecilia and began selling door to door.

  • 1940s

Awning and Supply Company begins selling sanitary chemicals as World War I prohibits the manufacturing of awnings and Venetian blinds.

  • 1946

Business moves to present location, returns to original operation, and becomes a licensed Hunter Douglas fabricator.

  • 1950s

Awning and Supply Company branches out into the home improvement industry due to a decline in Venetian blind sales.

  • 1966

An age of cheap energy produces a lack of consumer interest in blinds and awnings as functional window covering products. Awning and Supply Company strengthens its position in home improvement products.

  • 1970

A formal dealer network is established in the wholesale industry. The company expands its position in the interior market with the introduction of the mini-blind in 9 colors.

  • 1980

Considered the main growth period, the 190s saw an expansion to a complete offering of interior window treatments. Awning and Supply Company begins trading under the ASCO Window Coverings name and exterior products focus on retractable and stationary canvas awnings.

  • 1990s

The trademark Advantage™ is established for Window Coverings private-label interior window coverings. The company continues to introduce new products to the wholesale market, including wood blinds, composite blinds, interior and exterior shutters, vertical blinds, roller shades, awnings, and hurricane shutters.

  • 2000

The company focuses on new product innovation, strengthening of the dealer network, and value-added strategies for the company's customer base.
